In News Straits Times today, where the editors appeared to be under the thumb of the Ketua Pemuda, an article was published on page 8 which had precisely shown how the editors can be quite naive in fulfilling the political agenda of the Ketua Pemuda.
EXPERIENCE COUNTS: They must heed needs of all races
Umno veterans say delegates who will be voting in the party election on Saturday should select vice-presidents and leaders who are incorruptible and all-rounders.
They want the three vice-president posts to be given to candidates who have “climbed the ropes” and are well-versed with party affairs.
Umno Veterans Club secretary Datuk Mustapha Yaakub said the vice-presidents’ posts should be occupied by candidates who were prepared to work at any level.
“The delegates must choose leaders who are clean; free from corruption, have not misused funds, or been involved in any sex scandals.
“Reject candidates who are unscrupulous and are only out to seek a place in the supreme council for personal interests.”
This was what party president and prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak meant by a political transformation, he said.
Umno’s top leadership must be made up of those who understood the needs of the rakyat, he said, pointing out that come the next general election, the party would also have to gain support from non-Malay voters.
“If there is no such change, Umno will lose the support of the people. The party will cease to remain relevant,” he warned, reminding Umno members that the party’s fate was in their hands.
Outgoing Johor Umno liaison committee secretary Datuk Ahmad Zahri Jamil felt the top echelons in Umno should comprise personalities who had a thorough understanding of how to manage the country.
“Umno is a party that looks after Malay affairs, but as stated in the Constitution, the rest of the population must also be looked after.
“It is, therefore, imperative that the next leadership, especially the vice-presidents and the supreme council members, hold good qualifications and are able to represent the people.”
Ahmad Zahri, 64, advised voters to look at the backgrounds of the contenders vying for the relevant posts in the election before casting their ballots.
“This year’s party election serves as a true test of the democratisation process for Umno,” he said, stressing that delegates must make full use of their vote to ensure that the candidates they selected had proven leadership qualities.
Veteran Datuk Rahmah Abdul Hamid, 81, has found “experience” an important factor to consider when choosing the right candidate.
“Anybody looking to be elected into office should have served the party, starting out at the lower ranks,” she said, while voicing her disappointment at the entrance of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir into the vice-presidency race.
“While I have nothing against him, I feel that Mukhriz has been pushed far too quickly up the ranks. He has not even served as division leader yet.
“Umno works religiously from ground to the top and if you have not spent time building the party or being a coolie, then you will not understand the sentiments of party members.”
She said Mukhriz should instead spend his time focusing on Kedah and get accepted by the people there first.
She pointed out that, in contrast, incumbent vice-president (Datuk Seri) Hishammuddin Hussein had his foot on the ground and knew the party’s ins and outs.
“He has been the Umno youth chief before, and he has moved up the ladder in a proper way, being groomed by the party.”
She also gave credit to vice-presidential candidates Tan Sri Isa Samad and Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, saying both had their share of experience.
There you go. Just like in the previous article entitled “Buruk ketuanya, buruklah pengikutnya”, it was written that:
“… just a stark reminder to those who want to ridicule other people – please look at the non-accomplishments of your Ketua Pemuda first before criticising others.”
And the NST article above is a perfect example how a mother of Ketua Pemuda should not criticise other people without being cognisant of her son’s own position.
In fact from another perspective, if the mother had said this before the Umno wings’ elections, it could dent the candidacy the incumbent Ketua Pemuda!
‘Ibarat percik air dalam dulang, terpercik muka sendiri’.
She said, “Anybody looking to be elected into office should have served the party, starting out at the lower ranks,”.
Did her own son the Ketua Pemuda started out from the lower ranks? He was a nobody but was pushed far too quickly up the ranks and became the Deputy Youth Head uncontested at the age of 28 just because his father in law was the sitting Umno President at that time.
She further said, “I feel that Mukhriz has been pushed far too quickly up the ranks. He has not even served as division leader yet.”
Touchè.
Was his son even a division head when he became Ketua Pemuda Umno in 2009? Mind you, Ketua Pemuda Umno is also one of the Vice Presidents in Umno hierarchy.
Lastly, she criticised Mukhriz Mahathir by saying:
“Umno works religiously from ground to the top and if you have not spent time building the party or being a coolie, then you will not understand the sentiments of party members.”
Where did his son served as a coolie of Umno to understand the sentiment of party members? In Kuwait? In Oxford? In Singapore?
Where makcik?
All the people in the Ketua Pemuda’s camp suffers dementia where they feel the need to criticise others with criticisms which incidentally reflect the inadequacies of that same Ketua Pemuda!
It is unfortunate that the Ketua Pemuda uses his mother to criticise a VP candidate. Where the VP post shouldn’t even be of concern to the Ketua Pemuda. The Ketua Pemuda should just focus on Pemuda Umno. Why bother poking his dirty nose on other people’s career?
But knowing him and his childish and petty ambition to smear anyone who will derail his ambition to become the eventual Prime Minister, his modus operandi had stoop ever so low.
This is in fact the opposite of the ‘semangat setiakawan’ he extols.
It is appropriate for his mother to tell Umno to ‘choose competent leaders’. Fullstop. But to lambast Mukhriz for rising up the ranks to quickly is highly irregular considering her own son’s unfair advantage towards others for the past 9 years.
And obviously it is highly inappropriate for NST to even publish this shoddy piece of journalism. None of the other so called veterans in the article above mentioned any names of the candidates. But somehow a veteran (?) Umno woman who happens to be the Ketua Pemuda’s mother had no qualms to mudsling a candidate in public and NST had the audacity to let it print.
Now the underdog had so much work to do. Considering all government’s media is actively trying to realise the ambition of one young arrogant leader who suffers misplaced sense of self-entitlement and jealousy.
We don’t count on Mukhriz to win this weekend with all this ungentlemanly conduct by people with no class.

Looks Like Parents are now entering the Fray! Mukhriz’s Father Mahathir and Khairy’s Mum. Won’t be surprised if Dr M will let loose his volley of shots countering those comments. UMNO is beginning to look like the Dance Mom’s Programme with Mothers being involved in their children’s performances!

When the mother speaks now, it could only means one thing. It’s a signal of desperation from the affected party and most probably comes from (Mukhriz should have known by now). Well, if I am Mukhriz, I’ll gladly allow myself to dance to this tune. Play it for another 3-4 days with few jabs and play it with sentiments to umno voters. This will be a different battle to the last one fought by Mukhriz 3 years ago because at that times pemudas are immature lots (they havent change a slight even today). This is the second attacks for Mukhriz since last week and I dont expect it to stop for next coming days. It’s time for you to play your move wisely Mr Mukhriz!

Agak nya nya beliau ni kureng sekolah kut. Sedap mulut aje cakap. Maklum lah anak kahwin kepada anak bekas PM yang tak bolih berfungsi,dia bolih pulas tengkuk , ingat rakyat malaysia keseluruhan bolih buat jugak ke.? Dah lah tak berkerja, menjawat jawatan ketua pemuda umno during the last internal UMNO elections pun penuh controversi, Ali Rustam sangkut, Isa Samad, sangkut, dia pun sama tapi dek kerana menantu TUAN PRESIDEN UMNO lepas.Sayang kat Tun Mahathir kerana ungkapan MELAYU mudah lupa. As it is this umno elections is without flaws. What about those monies in Singapore. No investigations wan ah wei. Lastly, A blog reveals that our Ketua Pemuda having some “refreshments “with the KALI and someone. Whats up bro.? Mines down . Hows yours for the killing. Anything to comment.?

My remarks on this :-
1. The war on AURAS. Progressive liberal / centrist (KJ) against Progresif Melayu Islam ( I see in Mukhris’s style )
2. If Mukhris being elected then there will be a clash of different cultures. A big burden for KJ to play his roles.
3. Mukhris might go along with Zahid but not with Hishamuddin. Therefore KJ needs Hishamuddin ( vice versa ) or the ‘tiga serangkai ‘ status quo.
4. To confront and ‘ korbankan’ Mukhris, KJ needs third party to do the job or otherwise just a bad non-ethical move by a newly elected Ketua Pemuda Umno.
May Mukhris has a strong will. So the others. Let it be a fairgame.

Sad, sad case of the News Straits Times being taken over by the so-called Riong Kali gang since the days of the Ketua Pemuda’s pa-in-law as PM. And now it is subservient to the wishes of the Ketua Pemuda who was reported having been seen at lunch whatever together in public recently.
But, whoever uses a mom to campaign? Whoever is still under the arm pit of the mom at 38 years old? How to ever be a PM by 40 if still under mom’s armpit at 38? But even if mom is not campaigning for him, damn too late now to achieve a stupidly publicly declared political ambition of becoming PM by 40. He must be mad. Maybe an inherited illness connected to the rumour that the father died committing suicide. This is not hitting below the belt. This is an attempt to ensure no crazy fellow wearing the PM’s belt. Machiavelli notwithstanding.
Yes, his mom has been attempting at King Making. They say behind the success of a man, there is a woman. The father must have had hell of a time. Posted to the home sector of the Home and Foreign Service when he joined what was then the Foreign Service – before the merger with the then MCS – clearly showing his preference of serving overseas. As the husband and the young man’s father is no more, mom has been concentrating on the son. Wonder if he got to Oxford on his own academic qualification. Or mom could have cajoled dad, in his capacity as Ambassador, then overseas, to have made a few phone or courtesy calls for a place for the son under Oxford’s sun.

The mom is a University graduate – University of Singapore, before UM existed, I think. To say that she has poor education such as not to be sensitive to the feelings of the rakyat to her nursing the 38 year-old son political future is not right.
To say she is narrow minded is also not correct as she has been living overseas for many years and must have observed political campaigns in other countries. Clearly she has not seen her comments as causing the prospect of the son losing sympathy – even making some UMNO voters giving their votes to Mukhriz.
To say senility and imbalanced judgment has crept into her is also not correct, as she runs a woman’s NGO called Persema or something and her mental faculty appears OK.
So, it’s just sayangkan anak tidak terhingga, timang timangkan dia, hingga umur dah lebih dari orang muda. Can we blame her? No. Not really. Can we blame Khairy? No. But all told, her words to the press must have lost Khairy a few points and, conversely, won Mukhriz a few.

I welcome any interpretation of what the Nenek said. Especially along the line of “pukul menantu, sindir anak”.
But I wanna say I think she was genuinely thinking of and whacking Mukhriz Mahathir mostly. “Anybody looking to be elected into office …” – her son already elected, Mukhriz not yet. But she did not realize that the derogatory points she put out applied to her son as well. Ma’alom lah, dah 81 tahun, takkan tak nyanyok sikit pun.
She also didn’t realize that she was giving Najib a slap on the face. Saying “.. I feel that Mukhriz has been pushed far too quickly up the ranks ..” – Najib was the one who did the pushing. Masam muka lah Kak Ros when next the Nenek is around.
But her statement “.. if you have not spent time building the party or being a coolie, then you will not understand the sentiments of party members.” is really telling her own son, the Ketua Pemuda. I heard that she has been scolding and pushing her son to really get to know his grassroot supporters in the kampongs and visit the kampongs more often than he did than during pa-in-law’s time as PM. That’s why he got more votes at PRU13.
Yeah, sayang si emak, sindir sindirkan.

Mummy wants to block a potential VP in Mukhriz simply because Berani Berubah versus Money Politics will destroy KJ’s chances for PMship.

Mungkin saya baca akhbar yang berat sebelah atau berita yang condong kapada sesetangah petanding, tapi saya dapati sekarang ramai yang menonjolkan pasukan Zahid-Mukhriz-Afdal atau Zahid-Mukhriz-Ali Rustam. Tak kisah apa Makcik 81 tahun tu kata.
Ramai pulak yang kata Hishamuddin mengecewakan masa dia Menteri Dalam Negeri. Tak bertegas dengan Pembangkang. Berita yang saya baca itu mengeluarkan kata kata Ahli UMNO yang pegang jawatan pertengahan, termasuk Exco Puteri di Bayan Baru yang bahru di pilih minggu lalu dan akan memilih esok.
Sedap le hati sikit. Saya memang mahukan Zahid dan Mukhriz tu. Ali Rastam tu saya tak senang hati sikit sebab dulu di dapati bersalah politik wang. Tapi kalau dia menang pun, makna dua muka baru sebagai Naib Pengerusi. Boleh membuat Najib lebih Melayu pendirian dia kot.

Blog blog Pembangkang semua nya tak sukakan Mukhriz. Sebab kuat semangat Melayunya. Dari situ boleh nampak mana yang patut di pilih sebagai Naib Presiden.
Pembangkang mahukan Barisan Najib. Sebab Najib liberal dan progressif kata mereka. Kalau Mukriz tak menang jawatan Naib Presiden, teruk lah nasib Melayu. Silap silap NEP pun di senyapkan Najib lagi.

This is what “an UMNO veteran” told Malaysia Chronicle (The UMNO veteran I trust, the Malaysia Chronicle I don’t, but the fact that they publish this is interesting):
“We think Mahathir will move heaven and earth to get Mukhriz in. As for Najib, he too will do all he can to secure Hisham.
“Zahid is already too strong, so who is the one who will be sacrificed? It looks like Shafie but it is still too soon to tell.
“If Mahathir succeeds then Shafie will be sacrificed for Hisham because Najib wants Hisham and Shafie is 100% obedient to Najib. But if Najib succeeds in getting enough support for Hisham, then Shafie will remain and incumbent trio will be intact.
“This is why the last 24 hours are so exciting. Last minute surveys of the ground sentiment are still being done by their personal aides and horse trading is now at its fiercest. So don’t be surprised if suddenly, there is a change in voting sentiment among the various divisions, blocs and camps.”

“If possible, get the opinions from non-Umno members because although they don’t vote in the party election, they might be voting in the next general election,“ said Mukhriz after chairing the Kedah Umno Liaison Committee meeting yesterday.
“…it is the voters who will make the decision and they are the ones who will decide whether or not to like the results of Umno election. So, we really have to take into consideration the opinions of non-Umno members,” he added.
What he said is true and is realistic. I am not a member and I hope the voters to day will take into consideration my hope and wishes for permanency in UMNO/BN rule in this country. Mukhriz has been concerned about how UMNO/BN will fare at PRU14 – and as far as I can remember, he is the only one who voiced out this concern during this UMNO election. Najib at PRU13 got less seats than Pak Lah at PRU12. There is a real possibility of UMNO/BN losing PRU14.
Ya Allah, Ya Tuhanku, tolong lah UMNO, dan di pemilihan hari ini, berikan lah barisan pemimpin yang mengandungi mereka saperti Mukhriz yang nyata sentiasa sedarkan perlunya UMNO/BN mengambil langkah bagi terus memerintah negara ini.

Mukhriz truly is the smartest of the lot. Like his father, he is good at reading ground sentiments.
Ah Jib Gor must remember that his performance was worse than Pak Lah.
Repeat: Najib was worse than Pak Lah.
We must never let Najib forget that he. In the eyes of Malaysians. Is WORSE. Than Pak Lah.
Please take a moment to reflect on how awful one must be to be worse than the man who sleeps with tsetse flies. Ah Jib Gor only scraped through with votes for UMNO. The Opposition knows this and have executed their sleeper cells to kill UMNO from within. The project is working. The Malays out here are disgusted with Ah Jib Gor and his band of liberal progressives, so they will refrain from voting UMNO in the next election.
Guess what will happen to UMNO – and Najib – then? Notice I say it will only be Najib who will feel the crunch, because some of his merry liberal and progressive men will be laughing as they as they walk over to their true side – the Opposition – having completed a job well done.
