Confusion in addressing their political survival

My prayer to God is a very short one:
“Oh Lord, make my enemies ridiculous!”
God has granted it.

– Voltaire (1694- 1778)

Those were the words of a renaissance man some 300 years ago. If he had been living here in Malaysia this time around, he would have been laughing at the irony presented in the current situation.

We have seen how erratic the Pakatan Rakyat leaders had been for the past few months. Their words sounded topsy turvy in the ears of the people. More often than not, the rakyat were fed with endless absurdity in their way of politics.

We have read some of it here –

1) Anwar Ibrahim’s encyclopedia of incredible play-acting

2) Pakatan Rakyat’s tantrums seen from the eyes of the public

3) Pakatan Rakyat : ‘We can do this, but no one else can’

Taking cue from all this idiocy, the brazen Pakatan Rakyat supporters in the blogosphere began to write incredulous arguments to support their leaders’ ridiculous behaviours.

One such example is their take on the Monarchy’s immunity.

Now, all this started when Pakatan Rakyat supporters had badly insulted the monarchy following the change in Perak Government. One can remember how the car carrying Raja Di Hilir Perak was pelted with stones. The window was smashed during the motorcade and one have to admit that this vile act of trying to physically harm a member of the Perak Royal household must be severely punished.

But instead of apologising to the Monarchy, the leaders of Pakatan Rakyat, headed by Anwar Ibrahim were trying very hard not to be brandished as ‘derhaka’. How are they going to escape this? By deflecting it back to Umno of course. They said, Umno was the traitorous party that curtailed the Monarchy’s power. The people cannot blame Pakatan Rakyat for this. It is as if to say that when a hooligan from Pakatan Rakyat threw stones and showed offensive sign language to the Royals, it was Umno’s fault.

Are their unruly behaviours being controlled by Umno’s Brain Control machine back in Umno HQ in PWTC?

Get real. Do we see any Pakatan Rakyat leaders apologising to the Sultan? No we do not. As I said before, Pakatan Rakyat leaders have no sense of humility. Do you see any? I don’t.

The Pakatan Rakyat had been telling the people all this while that Barisan Nasional is a pompous group of politicians. Now, we do not see any difference between the two. In fact Pakatan Rakyat is even guilty of not walking the talk.

Why should the rakyat believe whatever they are saying now? Their strong but silly disinformation efforts showed us how desperate they have become.

To begin with, in the aftermath of the fall of DAP government in Perak, the Pakatan Rakyat leaders began to post history lessons in their webpages. One such leader is Elizabeth Wong. The leaders of Pakatan Rakyat tried very hard to discredit the Monarchy by digging up old stories about the extravagance in the Monarchy lifestyles in the old days.

For all intent and purposes, Pakatan Rakyat resorted to highlight what Tun Dr Mahathir had done in the past about the Monarchy. They are actually banking on Tun Dr Mahathir’s action just to justify their political methods!

They even dug up examples of incidences where the Monarchy had erred in their behaviours. Why? Because they wanted to show their supporters that what Nizar, Ngeh, and Ngar did currently is similar to what the ex premier did nearly 20 years ago.

Here in lies the argument that shows how ridiculous Anwar Ibrahim and the fragile Pakatan Rakyat had become.

Firstly, what Tun Dr Mahathir had done back then was to curtail the personal misdemeanours of the Royal members by setting up a Special Court. Any misbehaviour of the Royal members will be tried in this Court. Before 1993, this Special Court did not exist. Many aggrieved persons did not get any justice from the laws as the monarchy was immune to any press charges.

Thanks to the effort spurred on by Tun Dr Mahathir, people can eventually bring the matter to this Special Court.

Now, what is the justification of the arguments brought forth by Pakatan Rakyat that Umno was ‘derhaka’? That Umno had championed the people’s rights? Good for Umno then!

Please take note that in 1993, Karpal Singh and Anwar Ibrahim were among the people that vehemently supported this decision in enacting a law that allows a Sultan to be tried for any wrongdoings made in his personal capacity. Now these very same people think that what Umno did was ‘derhaka’?

This is one of the immunity of the Monarchy that was curtailed by the government and Pakatan Rakyat seemed to think that this is traitorous? Are they now saying that the Special Courts need to be abolished?

Their own line of reasoning is so preposterous that they have become confused in their own political struggle. What is it that they aim to achieve?

So, Umno is ‘traitorous’ for limiting the Sultan’s powers. As the result, the Sultans now cannot do as they please to the people. Is that their point of contention?

In fact, this will only highlight how empathetic Umno was to the wellbeing of its people back then. Therefore, how ridiculous have Pakatan Rakyat had become now?

My dear leaders of Pakatan Rakyat; Umno used the examples of the Monarchy’s personal transgressions to justify an amendment to protect the average Malaysian. But you defiled the royal institution just to further your own cause. You tainted the royal institution just because the DAP government fell in Perak. Moreover, the Sultan acted in his official capacity and according to the Constitution.

In the Constitution, specifically in Schedule 8 – Provisions To Be Inserted in the State Constitution, it is stated that:

(2) The Ruler may act in his discretion in the performance of the following functions (in addition to those in the performance of which he may act in his discretion under the Federal Constitution) that is to say –

(a) the appointment of a Menteri Besar.

(b) the withholding of consent to a request for the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly.

There is no need to argue whether the Sultan had not followed the Constitution anymore. It is well within his jursidiction as the Constitutional Monarch.

Many well learned politicians in Pakatan Rakyat chose to ignore the meaning of a Constitutional Monarch and resorted to tell lies to their supporters. Constitutional Monarch means a head of state that delegates the powers of the Constitution to the government.

It means, he is governed by the Constitution to act and to direct in his official capacity. He cannot act on anything if it is not within the ambit of the Constitution. Get it?

I am digressing already.

Suffice to say that when the Sultan did not acquiesce to their stand, Pakatan Rakyat tried to malign the Sultan in a venomous way. When protests where held to defend the Royal Institution, they chided Umno for being the original traitor.

When the Straits Times of Singapore posted an article about the 1993 Constitutional Amendments, many Pakatan Rakyat bloggers complimented that article. Saying it was timely and relevant.

I am indeed amused by these people who claimed to be enlightened and open minded but failed to learn one’s own history where it matters the most. How pathetic can one gets! Umno currently is not taking the opposite side from what happened in 1993. The immunity of the Sultans was slightly stripped in order to give justice to the people. It was to make the Monarchy become respectable in the eyes of the people. It actually lifted the Monarchy’s image since cases of impropriety became near non existent.

What Umno is doing now is protecting the Royal Institution from being insulted by the Pakatan Rakyat leaders and their rabid supporters.

So, what is their beef? Again, at the risk of repeating myself, Pakatan Rakyat has been reduced to crybabies with forked tongues. Unable to put up a strong, logical argument to support their political survival.

I think if Pakatan Rakyat opens their mouth again, they will look like a clown in the eyes of their own supporters!

Taking cue from the 1990 and 1995 modus operandi of opposition parties in general elections, I can see a strategy that is going to be executed by them in this coming by election in Perak. It is too obvious. In order to obtain the votes to win Bukit Gantang, Pakatan Rakyat will have to resort on one thing that they are good act.

Deflection.

This tactic will begin by ridiculing and chastising the Sultan for his ‘blindness’ in not able to read the “people’s demands”.

Then, they will accuse Umno of being the party that spilled first blood. Umno is the ‘penderhaka’. Not us! This will be their battlecry. Their campaign arc.

They will try a sales pitch in the form of Pakatan Rakyat vs Umno (and Monarchy). They will produce a lot of examples on what the Monarchy did in the past (although they should know that the Monarchy is very much well behaved now due to the Constitutional amendments made in 1993).

They will continue to harp on the transgressions committed by the Monarchy in their personal capacity just to gain support for their cause. Their lust for power will know no bounds. They will be become insiduous to the extent of ridiculing the very institution that protects their rights within the Constitution.

It is easy for people to see who should they support for when one of the coalition is becoming more ridiculous by the day.

  1. Salam JMD,

Tiap kali AI buat kecoh melalui PR, saya sering tertanya2, apakah senario politik negara sekiranya wayyyy back in 98, semasa TDM fired him, AI tidak melawan secara agresif dan cepat melatah..

  2. I seldom come across people who do cross-checking on a given political information, I mean read ‘stories’ from both sides, then analyse them, then think about the reputations and credibilities of the information providers, at least after these process, only make a judgement.

Since the recent years, many people, especially the younger generation, treats whatever political information from the Pakatan Rakyat is accurate and right! That’s why I think no matter what these Pakatan Rakyat politician do, their supporters will always think that they are right! This must have something to do will their brainwashing campaign of ‘BN equals to evil’ during the past few years especially during the pre-election period.

  3. Jebat,
    Erm.
Don’t mean to be rude but “digging up history” is usually necessary for context. Because, I feel, events do not spontaneously combust from a vacuum.
From the behaviour of UMNO in the past two or three years minus the Mahathir years, it can be said that UMNO generally doesn’t care very much what the Palace thinks, like in the case of Idris Jusoh being ditched by the Agong/Sultan of Tganu.
On Keadilan, I do feel Anwar is really the most selfish politician in the world, willing to whip up resentment and sympathy just for his political gain or to destroy Dr Mahathir’s legacy.
Mahathir et al may not be perfect but they did something and everyone was happy, except for a really small group of politicians.
I had mamak the other day with a friend. Before the election he was really mad at Barisan, like many others. He voted for the first time last year and for the DAP. Many others in his area in PJ switched from MCA to DAP.
He then spoke about how PKR’s ideals of human rights, etc appeal to him and explained why.
Then I pointed out that under Dr M, everyone was happy and there was less politics, even at the normal rakyat level. I also added that the NEP was also around at that time. So what went wrong? In my view, UMNO. It just lost its way, as a result of being too comfortable in power.
Hope you are enjoying your day.

JMD : Thank you for the comment Jed. You are right. But this article in particular is highlighting the blatant hypocrisy that is Pakatan Rakyat. So now, they are using examples of what TDM did 16 years ago just to ridicule the Sultans. Are they now approving TDM’s move? But several months ago, they were the ones who accused Umno of destroying the Monarchy’s immunity. They even called to empower the monarchy more.

On the other hand, they accused Umno for being traitorous just because TDM had limited the Monarchy’s power. So which is which? What is their stand? They themselves are a confused lot.

To my recollection, TDM never lambasted the Monarchy for acting in their official capacity. It was the personal misdemeanours that resulted in the setting up of that Special Courts.

It is unfortunate that Umno could not handle the responsibility when they have too much power. Hence, we saw the unprecedented disrespect towards the Sultan (re Terengganu). Luckily the leader that created that commotion will step down after March 09.

Thank you Jed. Have a good day ahead.

  4. Dear JMD,

To me the question is now how right-minded/like-minded people like us is able to convince the supporters/voters of DAP/PKR/PAS to just listen and consider our point of view. To actually think before blindly supporting AI and crew. To open their eyes and ears to the possibility that these jokers could actually be the ones that is lying and taking everyone else down the path of destruction and despair.

Just for them to think for one minute that before the Days of Anarchy of AI there was very little such violent demonstrations. That Malaysians at one time were generally peace loving and good natured. That all this were chipped and crumbled away just because of the arrogance and self-righteousness of this one man.

He is good at twisting facts and turning the attention away from issues. Just like his renewed attempt now on his black eye fiasco now against IGP and AG. If only I can find my copy of Asiaweek that had an article on him when he was the then Ag. PM. It said in the article that he employed spin doctors, image and PR consultants. Isn’t that telling enough? How do we get people to see what we see?

There may also be outside elements that are supporting Anuar. Otherwise I am sure he cannot survive that long even after he has made himself into a laughing stock, shown himself to be empty barrel and above all he has no shame. .

  5. There is a tinge of hypocrisy in your tear jerker press conference so contrived. You make an admission where one is not yet necessary. No one yet convincingly has demonstrated or led any proof of the existence of nude photos of you. In admitting to it by your conduct you accept the truth of the allegations against you. At least that’s the inference you now compel us to draw by your actions or inaction on the matter.

It is also evident that the purpose of your whole press conference and your failure to deny or to assert the substance of the allegations about your personal life captured supposedly in pictures was to elicit sympathy and the adulation you associate with the office you hold.

Such histrionics is to be expected of you with your long history of courting the media to further your personal causes like the other narcissistic parliamentarianTheresa Kok. Your contrived grief is also understandable to a point since, the euphoria that followed you and your party’s election into office quickly degenerated into an internal orgy of bickering by a foul cacophony of mudslingers with little or no real political objectives other than wild accusations which they failed to substantiate ending in the debacle that is Perak.

More important the failure of your group to demonstrate a clear and unequivocal agenda that would be an alternative to the current BN has driven your credibility into the sewers of politics where you find yourself now crying foul struggling to get out. There was a well orchestrated chorus of “dont resign” like the cursory encore at a boring ballet not genuine yet repeated because it is the thing to do.

You took an alternative morality with you into government with an impressionable permissive generation of youth in tow who expect the party to rage on forever. Thats youth. But with the privileges of your office comes responsibility. You failed to discharge that responsibility to a standard expected of an elected member of parliament. But then so too did most of your Pakatan colleagues who stand metaphorically naked for all to see. Full of rhetoric, promises and threats and little of substance if any other than self help.

This is not the first dalliance of yours where you clearly left yourself open to the sort of perfidious actions of a former lover through your own dance with lust. Power as Henry Kissinger once said “is the greatest aphrodisiac”. You attracted it not once but also flaunted it as often as there was an audience.

This is not an attack on your sexuality. If that what you are trying to make of this situation you are clearly out of step. It is of your promiscuous behaviour which you attempt to equate with women’s rights and privacy that’s at the core of this situation. And yes a conservative in every camp will reject what you see as right.

If you promote promiscuity, an act that should be reserved for the privacy it deserves then advocate it as a virtue so liberally equate it with democratic and liberation feminist doctrines typically using feminism and women’s rights and democracy as your fig leaf, the leaf is too small a cover. It will fall off as it just did for you.

This is an issue you cannot simply internalise or localise to suit your own personal situation. As a public figure you are public property. Thats a fact of the life you now lead.

The western liberalism you and Anwar promote has its pitfalls. It may be okay to “let a thousand flowers bloom” as Mao proclaimed in the cultural revolution a philosophy of unleashing unbriddled youthful energy against established conservatism you and Anwar now exploit for your powerbase. However remember it cuts both ways.

What about the other young men and women who are exploited daily whom you pay lip service to? Prostitutes held to ransom by Tai Kongs and OKT’s? the police protection of money lender sharks, the murders of young people in police custody? they don’t have that luxury of switching boyfriends and living out of wedlock for all to see? again they do not rate for you, Anwar, Theresa Kok and that old fool Kit Siang.

Why should anyone see your misfortune as anything more than something to comment about in coffee shops today and forget about tomorrow? yuo too after all engaged freely in unsubstantiated claims against other public figures, the chickens perhaps have come home to roost.

This is Malaysia where there are no privacy laws or did you just realise it. Remember what happened to the former MCA chief ?. This scandal will circulate throughout the world. Some will see you as a martyr of free and unbriddled passion in bed, a carefree soul who cares little about discretion and then uses the effect of her indiscretion as a political tool to further her dying popularity.

Elizabeth, from Australia’s universities where you learned your craft, you have failed to realise that you cannot change a conservative culture that is Asia overnight with a foreign degree, foreign ideas and then seek to impose it on the vulnerable, the youth. Together with freedoms come responsibility.

At least in consolation I can say this. if you and Theresa Kok both ran down the streets of KL naked, it will be the offence for which attention will be paid to you not for anything more. Nothing personal;. But learn to be discreet and not to champion those causes that end up biting you in the Behind.

PKR was established to ‘bring justice’ to Anwar Ibrahim during his 1998 episode. Then Pak Lah released him from jail prematurely. But PKR is still going strong. ‘Justice’ was served. Anwar was released. Tan Sri Rahim Noor resigned. His former sodom gang jailed… But they wanted more. They wanted Anwar to be the PM.

What happened to “justice for anwar”? I’m beginning to think that every fiasco involving PKR members are their own doing. Just to show the world how BN never ceases to attack PKR members in order to run the country. As if BN has nothing better to do.

  7. Hi JMD
what do you think of razaleigh’s article here.
    http://razaleigh.com/2009/02/16/1993/

i think all is fair in politics. It’s just that the timing of this article is wayyy out.

    thanks.

JMD : With all due respect to Ku Li, in 1993, he was speaking as one of the Opposition leader that opposed the constitutional change back then. It is more telling because Sultan Kelantan (his niece’s husband) was one of the rulers that opposed the amendments in the Majlis Raja Raja. It took the strong diplomatic arm of the late Tun Ghaffar Baba to negotiate with all the 9 rulers.

Remember, at that time, the rakyat wanted to feel safe against the moanrchy’s personal conduct. Naturally, Ku Li, opposed the idea to curtail that powers. It was more of a political expediency. I respected him then and I respected him now. That article of his only showed how steadfast he is in his belief and he would want people to know that his principles remain the same throughout.

However, I do not agree when he said ‘Was greater harm done to the sovereignty of the Rulers in 1993 through Parliament or a week ago on the streets of Perak?’

Ku Li had mixed up to different issues in that statement. In actual fact, it was due to the harm caused onto the average people on the streets that made it imperative for the constitution to be amended. That constitutional change had made the monarchy respected even more as the rakyat now can breathe a sigh of relief as they know they will be protected by laws should any wayward monarch decided to misbehave.

Ku Li aptly said that the Perak’s crisis today is not about the status of the ruler. To me it never did. But when the supporters became rude to the personal being of the monarchy (when he had acted in line with the Constitution), naturally the royal institution must be defended.

I like what Ku Li had said in the first video regarding the Constitution, social contract, malay special rights etc. Very much the same with what Tun Mahathir had been telling the people. These old school politicians know what they are talking about.

  10. I would like to say that u have managed to produce a very good argument regarding the recent issue of political upheavel occurred in Perak
Just that I wish to raise some questions

    1) Deflection of people representative by itself is immoral, to me for the least. Pakatan Rakyat is defending the governmental right which is rightfully theirs as evidenced by the landslide victory during March 2008 election. Though the way how they humiliated the monarchy should be contempt, should not UMNO the perpetrator that overthrew the state government without regard of people’s wish be contempt also with similiar severity? Myself as the Perakian is furious with the way how the state government is overthrown and I believe many of the Perakians feel the same

    2) I understand the argument can be traced to Anwar Ibrahim who started the whole thing of deflection. However, it does not make the atrocity done by BN more righteous than Pakatan Rakyat. Both of them should be denounced with the same bearing, don’t you think so?

    3) We heard also some conscience emanated from the Pakatan Rakyat. Karpal Singh had announced his stance long time ago that denounced the deflection of people representative. But do we hear similiar comment from component parties of BN? Instead, we hear many BN leaders making more excuses to legitimate their plot to overthrow each state government runs by PKR. I am eager to hear opinion regarding this

    3) I would like to hear also ur opinion regarding the issue concerning Elizabeth Wong.

Thanks for ur space that allows us to post our discussion
    Good days

JMD : Welcome back Fann. How is your job hunting effort coming along? Hopefully all is well.

The state government of Perak was won by Pakatan Rakyat by a slim margin. Even at nationwide level, the term ‘landslide victory’ was being misconstrued there. Landslide victory would be similar to BN’s achievement in 2004. We should say, the opposition gained substantial grounds instead. We do agree that the monarchy had received unprecendented abuse by the Pakatan Rakyat supporters. In this lifetime, have you seen a monarch being pelted by stones before? My grandfather certainly never did. However, I myself do not agree with the manner Perak was won by BN. Of course you are furious about the change of state government. It will be similar to the feeling of anger should Anwar Ibrahim’s Project 916 had become successful then. No supporters of PR ever thought about the feelings of the rakyat that voted for BN if that were to happened. Which come to our next point. Yes both of them should be denounced with the same bearing. That is why, PR can take the matters to court. We all should know by now that Pakatan Rakyat is no better than BN. Both are being filled by questionable characters. Political expediency is the order of the day. Should Anwar had the opportunity to get froggies from BN in the state of Johor for instance, he will jump at the opportunity. Lets not beat around the bush about that. My take about Karpal is the same to what I wrote here once about Karpal:
Karpal Singh, who had vehemently disagreed with Anwar’s Project 916, was quiet when the Bota Assembly man crossed over to Pakatan Rakyat earlier.

I expected he would make an announcement chiding MB Perak (Nazir) and Anwar for accepting the froggie into PKR’s fold. But he, and the rest of the like minded people were very quiet. It shows a lot about the level of sincerity of these politicians.

As for Elizabeth Wong, strategically speaking from the political point of view, it will be more beneficial for BN in the long run if Elizabeth Wong does not resign. But personally, she should quit her post for the good of Pakatan Rakyat. Thank you.

  11. To be fair JMD, what else can they do? Have you been in an argument and you know that there is no way you can win based on logic and facts? To save yourself, its either you throw a tantrum or you just confuse the other party by quoting, blaming and cursing everything and everybody. No one wants to admit being confused because it will make them look stupid. So they went out and demonstrate against Sultan Perak draped in Palestinian flag. Ask them why they did that and I bet they will talk about the constitution – something they never read in the first place.

Confusion is what keeping the PR together. You saw how the PAS Muslimah wept beside Eli? They said its because Eli was victimized. Excuse me. Its more like she got screwed. She did not complain in the beginning. Not until she realized that she really got screwed while screwing around. The victim is Hilmi’s wife and not Eli, no? But nah, they sympathized with Eli for being a victim to Khir Toyo! If you ask them how did KT came into the picture, they wont be able to answer you but blame KT for being a Javanese instead.

Amidst all these confusions, who were the victims? Melayu. Guess who is going to have the last laugh? I am not going into that.

  14. Salam Saudara Jebat,

It is alarming to see Malays in Pakatan particularly from Pas capitalizing on this monarchy issue. They have somehow, indirectly agreed that the Sultan is wrong since they cannot get their way.

Do they realize that our monarchy is our last defense? Religion and land matters are still the prerogative and ownership respectively of the monarchy. If the Malays of Pakatan play into this “let’s hate the monarchy” game just as a means to an end i.e getting their party and subsequently their martyr Anwar into power they must remember that Anwar cannot do it with his bunch of Malay supporters only.

Like it or not, Dap’s demands will have to be met. First eroding Malay rights as was evident in the 999 year land leases given by the Ngeh-Nga Dap government of Perak. Then what? eroding the monarchy’s position would only be a matter of time as the monarchy stands as the pinnacle of the Malays. Then what?

It may be too late when we one day wake up and realize that we have turned into Dap’s idol: Singapore. Where (correct me if I’m wrong) the Azan cannot be called out as loudly as it is here and our girls aren’t allowed to follow their religious beliefs in terms of attire to schools.

Inch by inch we will loose and it looks that way. Sorry if I sound “racist” but it is after all survival of the fittest and we must be smart enough to play the game to survive.

The current situation are indeed a bit chaotic, seems like the politicians nowadays a bit “green”, the current “agendas” seem to be created in order to cover up bigger pictures, the following are my 2 cents:-

Long jump or triple jump or whatever ….

Politicians make a bit blunder when come to this particular sports, AI, as a snake he is, make public his intention of organising a long jump event that will have 30 “winner”, as usual, he just full of air, never walk the talk.

The BN bloke that suppose to enter 1 long jump event, eventually, participate in another event, 3 blokes pulled out and the caos begin. This may be coincident or the best “art of war” ever and AI’s dream come crashing. (padan muka dia), served him well, he may give us a few more deadline, it should be good point of humor for the participant of “Raja Lawak Astro”

Now, Perak xMB claimed that this is an immoral “rampasan kuasa”, a snake should not teach other snake to tap dance, you got no feet lahhh

    Photography ….

What a waste of time ….. for me UMNO should take this stand, when ask by reporter, we should shy away from the topic, dont comment anything, just inform the public that this is not our problem and AI had to clean his own dirty linen, we will not ask any body to step down, she may do whatever she want and we should let the people think about this themself. UMNO should listen to this “THE PEOPLE HAVE BRAINS” K.Toyo should shut up, when he opened his mouth, he look stupid. We should let PR answer to the people, let them lie to their teeth, the truth will prevail.

And fiinally, politician, please, use you head and not your knee cap, think and talk, not talk and screw up and finally, behave like a mature person, we dont need standard 6 kind of thinking …..

    JMD : Good comment.

  16. Dear JMD,

Firstly, let me congratulate you on the new look. It does look better now. As for commenting on the comments…I foresee lots of infighting among your readers, fans and “fans”. But let’s see, since you are already moderating them.

Apart from mainstream newspapers, I also read online site, The Malaysian Insider. For the political news and views, you should read the comments. Majority are PR supporters, and they blame BN/Umno for practically everything. Totally blinded by their support. I hardly see anyone saying, “I am a PR supporter, but…” Or, “I like DSAI, but…”. It’s all hate mail. If a prominent PR politician slips in his bathromm and breaks his arm, all fingers will point to BN or Najib. If a chicken dies crossing a road in PR run states, fingers will still point at BN.

    And look at these comments:
    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/malaysia/index.php/malaysia/19147-sultan-sympathises-with-eli-but-wont-interfere

One moment they are angry with the monarchy, and now they are happy. Where’s the stand?

Anyway, another great post. Great time we are living, eh?

En. Azmi aka man with the dolphin brain around?

Well we do need some people to lighten up this post also … hehehehe

anyway, what to say … the script is out … even people now can see what coming out of ‘the greatest liar oppss leader’ mouth …

even the action of the supporters also can be predicted …

BN (i cannot see other parties that can do this) have to take the initiative to make things right …

like bro APOMM said in his blog, Anwar wings are CLIPPED …

BN should capitalize on this …

BN have to show that under the new man, they are changing …

and first step shall be the UMNO GA … if people see that the GA will appoint leaders which are not qualified or ‘hampeh’… we can see another round UMNO/BN defeats at the 3 bukits n B.Ai …

i pray that the political leaders play this right this time and set clear their objective to make Malaysia better … not worse …

  18. JMD,

Like TDM, I believe that many people voted against BN in Mar 08 as a protest/ warning. So what the politician should be doing is use their head and think of how to win back these voters.

Sad to say that many their actions seems to push these voters to the oppositions lap. I have been surfing since Mar 08 and notice a few bloggers that has change their stands since then. Dr Rafix was one of them. He used to write some very balance articles. Unfortunately since his experince with the authorities in the Bukit antarabangsa incidence, he stand seems to be a bit biase.

With what they are doing to Jed now, they seems to be pushing her towards the opposition too.

Surely there is someone with brains around that can mendidik them on phycology?

JMD : Seriously, sometimes I am flabbergasted with the level of mentality some of our politicians have. As I see it, the reasons why BN lost so much grounds were because:
    a) BN under Pak Lah had mismanaged the country.
    b) Opposition offered an attractive option as they were not tested yet.

To simplify the line of argument above, since the opposition has now proved that they are similar with BN, and in fact even more disarrayed in their administration, BN must, under the leadership of Najib improve point (a) above to gain back the confidence. How? By alleviating the economic condition of this country and show that they are serious in doing it. People with their stomachs full will make less complaints. That is the general guidelines. The opposition will continue with their mosquito noises and jab here and there at the government but if the economy is strong, nobody will care much. Thank you.

    • haha.. sir. your comment i found quite mesmerizing and funny too. i also asking myself the same question. anyway JMD, nicee layout. and nicee scripting so that the visitors now can actually reply the particular comments they wanted to. your blog has slowly turned into mini forum where visitors actually can exchange views on particular issues discussed.

the link of Reflection 1 & 2 really helps to put these thing in chronological comprehension. thank you again for providing the links. i’m quite lost on the issue when PR suddenly became disarray due to several internal and external issues. too many issues came falling down and you lost track why are these people lost ground for arguement. mismanagement perhaps? and who’s the boss? sivaji the boss. no, no, karpal singh the boss. but for sure, Anwar Ibrahim is not the boss anymore. his credibility (if any) even towards his PR fellow and supporters are decreasing by day. every of his word spells disaster.

but one thing for sure, if blaming history does not help PR to regain popularity, my guess they will blame tomato after this. then their next killer tagline should be : PR and BN are the same. tomayto, tomahto?

  19. You may complain about Pakatan Rakyat, but UMNO and BN are far worse than them. People are fed up with UMNO, and all the dirty tricks and corruption practicised by Najib and his goons. What’s the point of quoting Voltaire when you are supporting that racist party called UMNO that has raped this country through endemic corruption, tolls, misgovernance, incompetence, and Najib, the lover and murderer of Altantuya? No use quoting high and mightily when you support such low class “leaders”.

JMD : Let Umno and BN rule the country, and we will see it become corrupt around its 5th decade of governance. Let PR rule 5 states, you will see the idiocy barely a year into power. How low are the ‘class’ of their leaders? The rest of your comment above are at best, a ‘guesstimate’. Thank you.

Please read here too. Do not forget the commentary section as well.

  20. You complain about people pelting stones at the monarch. Where was your complaint when UMNO insulted the Terengganu and Perlis monarchs?

But do you complain about injustice?

How about the shit that UMNO excretes upon Malaysians every day they suck money and mismanage the country? Where’s your blog post? Where’s your complaint?

And for the note, Pakatan did not buy reps to crossover. UMNO did, and kidnapped them to. The real katak is UMNO, not Pakatan.

You are like a pot calling the kettle black. Hypocrite.

JMD : This blog was set up on 31st March 2008. When Umno under Pak Lah (actually it was Pak Lah’s faction in Terengganu) insulted the Terengganu Regent, many criticised Pak Lah back then. I believe it happened a week after the general election on the 8th March 2008. We have discussed about this many times in previous articles (especially in the commentary section). I do not wish to spoon feed you but I do urge you to read all the 125 articles I have written here, including the commentary sections. For a start, please look at my reply to a comment to Hang Kasturi in the article here.

What is the price for being stupid and rude to the monarchy? People will want you to resign. Luckily Pak Lah will step down end of this March. Will Anwar step down soon? By the way, where was your complaint when Umno did the impasse in Terengganu? Importantly, where was your complaint when Pakatan Rakyat insulted Sultan Perak?

  21. Salam JMD,
    a. I knew this AI since early seventies and became one of the ANWARIST until got married to my current wife in 97. Ever since I met her in 95 she’s been telling me that she never liked this AI guy, we used to argue bout that.

    b. When I asked her why she hate him, she said,” I don’t know but my inner feelings says something is not right about this guy what we see is not what he really is; dia tu macam bunga PAKMA (rafflesia) kembang besar GAH tapi sabenarnya busuk menarik lalat2 je, parasit pulak tu,” you are just blinded by his charisma she continues.I was angree with that statement but because I was courting her at that time, never shown that feeling to her.

    c. The nineties Asian financial crisis really opened my eyes, this AI that I admired so much was actually just an empty drum that make so mush noise without substance. The so called the best finance Minister in the world came out with lots of rubbish directive copied from IMF and world bank. I was a banker then, I knew all the directives were killing businesses and ordinary people. Lucky for us then, we have the ever dependable Dr.M with his medicine that saved all of us.

    d. An-WAR, AnWARist and ANWARISM, Their motto is convinced the rakyat. If they are not convinced confuse them. Indeed these are what they have been doing all this while confusing rakyat. To those that still blinded by his oratory skills and rethoric, they just cannot differentiate between truth, tale and fiction. They swallowed everything at face value without thinking.

    e. I am forever gratefull to my wife, I must admit that love really opened my eyes. If not for her I am still one blind Anwarist with his Anwarism. Untill today I still find a lot of truth with what she said about bunga pakma and AI – Big, pompous but actually smells liked a rotten egg.

  22. JMD, lemme talk to this lochosvestu for a while. He seems like a classic PR guy who had just walked out from Anwar’s ceramah; all pumped-up, adrenalin flowing and ready to hit the street with a Palestinian flag. The only problem is, he don’t exactly know why other then Anwar and RPK said its the right thing to do. Like Rakesh Kumar pointed out “they blame BN/Umno for practically everything. ”

First of all Mr lochosvestu, what were u trying to say? Just coming out shouting PR is better then UMNO/BN, people are fed-up with UMNO, you cannot quote Voltaire if you support UMNO, Najib was the lover and murderer of Altantuya and so on is not good enough to prove that you are a better person than JMD. Accusation and argument are two different species and they don’t mate.

UMNO is a racist party? Tell me which party in PR is not race-based. PR is a better then the rest? In what way? Dirty tricks, corruptions, Lompat Katak, Eli Wong, pelting stone at sultan… which one? Are you going to say that PR is better because Anwar did not sleep and murder Altantuya now?

Mr Lochosvestu, I could say that you were Altantuya’s lover once. Are you going to tell me to prove it or act like a brain-dead and nod your head?

As far as I could remember, almost all blogs condemned the Terengganu incident. I don’t really remember any writing defending those who went against the sultan then. Not even the UMNO-leaning ones! But when it happened in Perak, almost all PR-leaning blogs, leaders and followers either went deaf, dumb and mute or went totally berserk and forgot about Kesetiaan Kepada Raja or even Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan . And today, I saw them shouting “Daulat Tuanku” to the Selangor Sultan again. What are you? You still think you are more reasonable then the UMNO people? You just want to run aground everyone who disagree with you? Righteousness belongs to you? Drop dead.

Then you asked, “do you complain about injustice?”

Mr Lochosvestu, I don’t kow where you have been but I think you should come out from Malaysia Today once in a while. Follow JMD’s advise and read a bit more. I don’t think you even know what JMD has been writing all these while.

Hypocrite. Again, I don’t think you even know what it means. Learn more about your leader Anwar Ibrahim especially what he said then and now. JMD could provide you with an encyclopaedia just on that topic.

Sorry JMD. Can we talk about the economy now? If they chose to berguling-guling atas jalan in support of Eli Wong pun up to them lah. Taksub.

  25. I do agree with u, JMD
That If ever Anwar Ibrahim managed to overthrow the government during the 916, a similiar condition of Perak will definitely occur. Then it is back to the basic core of the question whether the people can accept the defection of their people representative. I think peoples should make their wish clear that those people representatives who wish to defect should resign and let the by election takes place.
I do hope that the right to decide the Perak state government be returned to the hands of the Perakian and let all those ugly conditions currently playing be ended.

Regarding ur distaste towards PR, i feel that i can understand. However, i think it is a milestone for the demoncracy of our country with the existence of a strong opposition which has never occurred in Malaysia. After 50 years of governance, BN has become a giant tree with many foul branches that required trimming. But we did not see any wish of change exercised by BN though many promises had be made that BN will be more concerned of the peoples. With the increasing consciousness of peoples, BN will have a hard time if it thinks that it can win back people’s heart by promise of development, power sharing between races and even intimidation and fear.
But BN still refuses to change as evidenced by the action of UMNO youths, flamming speech by Khairy, tighter control of media, abuse of ISA, rise of petrol, self-denial of corruption.

As long as BN refuses to change, PR will still remain as a attractive option for peoples.

JMD : Thank you Fann for the comment.
