Umno does not protect the Malay’s dignity anymore

When Umno leaders forgot about their purpose and are too busy protecting their autocratic but weak leader, it is left to Dr Mahathir, a non member of Umno to protect the interests of the Malays. In this case, Dr Mahathir is more Malay than Umno itself. All Malays see this and appreciate the irony.

If Umno choose to be irrelevant to the Malays, then so be it. They are too greedy and too self absorbed with whatever power they have acquired. Blinded by personal greed, these leaders are rendered useless. They have lost the ability to fight for and defend their own people. They have become a race of their own. With money and power as their Sultans.

Let me write in Bahasa Melayu so that most of the Umno leaders can understand this article. Tan Sri Muhammad Mohd Taib please take note.

5. Mengapa Datuk Seri Syed Hamid, semasa menjadi Menteri Luar, tidak menjawab semua perkara yang ditimbulkan oleh Encik Matthias Chang berhubung jambatan bengkok? Mengapa masih tidak menjawab hingga kini? Encik Matthias Chang di pihak yang benar?

6. MCA, MIC, Gerakan dan banyak parti lain mempunyai institut / pusat penyelidikan masing-masing. Mengapa Umno tidak menubuhkannya?

7. Samy Vellu menyalahkan Tun Dr Mahathir di atas kegagalan kaum India sedangkan dia lebih lama menjadi Presiden MIC (sejak 1979) berbanding Tun Dr Mahathir menjadi Perdana Menteri. Adakah benar tuduhan tuduhan itu? Mengapa pemimpin Umno diam?

12.3 Syed Hamid Albar meletakkan jawatan kerana kehilangan Pulau Batu Putih (isu kedaulatan negara)?

12.3 Khaled Nordin berhenti kerana gagal mempertahankan kuota biasiswa anak anak bumiputera?

Sekian.

  1. JMD,

I do not think they have the ability to answer these quastions. It seems that they do not know what to do. It is like when yhe woke up in the morning, go to work like other people, but not like a Minister who should hold responsibilities of policy making.

Kenape jadi macam ni. Macam semua dah di bomoh kan.

Kalau semuanye nak menjaga periuk nasi masing-masing, banyak mana lagi lah duit yang nak di ambil? Nak makan nasi 10 pinggan ke sehari? Entah lah..

    Thanks for the article.

  2. I am appauled that all yr provoking questions could be expressed for everyone to read and respond. Back in the old day of ” TUN” …. I doubt you could express all this in public??? I may also disagree on the current leaders, tapi jangan lah melampau sangat brader jebat.. kita sama kita bergaduh… orang bangsa lain senyum aje… please study their objectives… they may all be in different parties but dalam pertubuhan dan persatuan depa matlamat nya sama… tengok aje semua tanah nak dijadikan freehold, new village dah dapat title, ketua kampung pun depa nak jadi boss, hongleong bank issuekan card credit untuk ahli persatuan chinese chamber of commerce. we are actually fighting their war for them… brader jebat.

Mereka mengutuk TDM, in public lagi.

Apakah pula cerita Pak Lah?

    Apa pendapat saudara?

  3. TDM quits Umno and rise lots of other issue days after he has been confirmed to be involved in Lingam’s case. Isn’t that ironic?

Now Malaysians seems to forgot the case due to those ‘other issues’

    True Malays? Funny.

JMD : People has been harping about this Lingam issue and the perceived implication of TDM’s name. In fact, the contents of the findings did not implicate directly about TDM’s involvement. Just the possibility of it. Their own words were “In the process, Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also entangled”. Notice the word ‘entangled’?. It is not ‘involved’. Anyway, you can read about what Tun said in his blog here – http://www.chedet.com/2008/06/royal-commissions.html

I would like to clarify that there was no mention whatsoever in that video that TDM INSTRUCT Lingam to call Tun Fairuz. Watch the video again. It was Lingam calling Fairuz (or vice versa) and Fairuz asking favour from Lingam (which Lingam may get some help from Vincent Tan and Tengku Adnan) to lobby on his behalf so as to get the nod from TDM for him to become Chief Justice. Would it be TDM’s fault that people close to him used his name? Of course not. So please show me how could TDM be implicated by this video that would at most, implicate Tun Fairuz for lobbying (if lobbying is indeed illigal in this country, last time I check, everyone lobbies for everything here!). The PM has the CONSTITUTIONAL duty to advice to the then Agung on who would be the Chief Justice. He could have never made an advice if he doesn’t hear any recommendations from the relevant people. Who are this people? Obviously the incumbent chief justice and several other ‘interested’ parties including lawyers and lobbying groups. By the way, this procedure had been done so many times since the days after Merdeka.

Anyhow, I do not think that him quitting Umno is in any way connected to his alleged ‘involvement’ in the Lingam case. Please read his posting – http://www.chedet.com/2008/05/pengumuman-keluar-dari-umno.html
on the reasons why he quit Umno. My friend, the only reason why Malaysians would forget the case is because Pak Lah’s administration would always come up with new issues to distract the public from their own weaknesses. Who would be the easiest scapegoat? TDM himself. Did you know that TDM had to defend himself almost entirely on his own on all the allegations thrown at him? And everytime, he would come out as the winning side? His arguments were always substantiated with facts that could immediately repudiate any false allegations. This Lingam case is of no concern for him as I’m sure the majority of Malaysians think was just a ploy of some weak, glory seekers to gain extra mileage.

    Thanks.

  8. Despite Malaysia’s pretty economic growth over this past few months, something just doesn’t seem to be right. It is almost as if the GDP growth figures were manipulated or spiced up.

Well, they weren’t. Contrary to popular belief, the government does not really ‘jack up’ economic figures. It just found clever ways to ‘spice up’ growth figures. That’s all.

Let’s use last year as an example. Abdullah found out that the economic figures were not good, and it couldn’t have been at a worse time. Elections were just around the corner and he didn’t want the economy to appear weak. So he did something very clever – he increased the wages of civil servants. This, of course, leads to higher spending. And as we know, spending helps boost the economy.

I am not saying that civil servants do not deserve a pay rise. But the reason why they were given one couldn’t be any worse. Yes, Malaysia is actually a failing economy. China and India are fast replacing Malaysia as manufacturing power houses. Half of Malaysia’s GDP figure comes from the manufacturing sector.

If oil and palm oil prices did not increase last year by a mile, Malaysia would have registered an economic growth of somewhere near 3.5%. This is a measly figure for a developing country.

By 2014, Malaysia will no longer be a net exporter of oil. In turn, this translates to losses for every sen oil prices go up.

To achieve developed status by 2020, Malaysia should have registered at least an 8% economic growth annually since 1995 (a developed country should have Purchasing Power Parity of at least RM25,000, and GDP per capita should be close to PPP figures) Right now, Malaysia has PPP of RM14,700 and a GDP per capita of RM6,500.

We have only done an average of 5% increase in GDP growth from 1995- 2007. So Vision 2020 will not be achieved despite what the government might claim. Furthermore, for Malaysia to move up the value chain, (I define this as a country that is able to innovate and produce high- quality products eg companies such as Samsung, LG from Korea) large amounts of foreign direct investments (FDI) are needed.

To show you how low our FDI is, Malaysia has a pathetic RM7 billion of FDI annually while Singapore, a country 100 times smaller then Malaysia, has FDI of RM55 billion annually. Last year, nearly 50% of our FDI went into the Iskandar Development Region. This, in my opinion, is a project bound to be a major failure. When Singaporeans were invited to invest, they did. But when they started to invest, our smart politicians said this would chase the Malays into the jungles.

    To summarise everything up:

    1. Malaysia’s economic growth is now based on oil and palm oil prices. (Malaysia will soon be a net importer of oil, and palm oil prices have reached their peak, meaning it will be downhill from here on)

    2. Malaysia’s manufacturing sector is shrinking, thus unemployment rates will go up.

    3. Immigrants from Indonesia, Philippines are causing wages to remain stagnant.

    4. Malaysia is suffering from a ‘brain drain’. No qualified professionals want to work in Malaysia anymore.

    5. All the people’s tax money are being used for stupid subsidies and unnecessary mega-projects.

JMD : Thanks for the highlights.

  9. TomTom,

Agreed with your view from your perspective i.e. malays are at lost from the “Tidak-kepercayaan Pak Lah” drive. HOWEVER please also take note that UMNO did not do its job in uniting malays and fighting for malay rights. What UMNO had done was to safeguard the interest of the leaders and their chosen chronies! This is what brader JMD is telling them!

Tun Mahathir is not just a politician, Tun mahathir is a statesman. A politician stops working for the people when he or she is no longer in power, a statesman continues beyond retirement for the sake of the people. Tun Mahathir is one of the rare breed of leaders who articulate an issue, find the cause and go for the solution. Before doing so, he studies the thing at hand. Just like a specialist doctor.

In the issue at hand, Tun has identified Pak Lah weak and defensive style of leadership as the main cause of it, and, not to mention, the ‘3K’ factor (ha!ha!). Running a country like Malaysia requires the leader to be an authoritarian, not a dictator. To an extend, a leader has to be brave to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and be in control so as to maintain social order.

‘Kelembikan’ Pak Lah has allowed the over-demanding of things. For example, the “Jambatan Bengkok” project is meant to allow aframaxx and VLCC class of tankers to use Selat Teberau instead of going through Singapore Keppel or Jurong. Singapore tak mau buat belah depa…so biaq pi kat depa laaa! Nie dah lah jambatan kensel, siap juai pasiaq lagi kat singapore bertan-tan!!!

  10. Salam Jebat, thanks for your answer on PMB. I think I’m getting clearer picture now on the PMB’s dealing. I support your view that UMNO is no longer the protector for Malay rights. Pak Lah (and Zaid Ibrahim) is begining to sound like Karpal Singh from than the man himself. It is very sad indeed since apart from UMNO they are no other party with the same objective.
I hope readers understand that we are not mean to be racist here. But the point is since – we live in multi-racial country, each race must have a vehicle, a political party to protect their right and interest. I don’t think we wouldn’t complaint much if Sammy Vellu fighting for more quota for Indian students or Ong Ka Ting did the same for the Chinese. It’s their responsible as community leader, though we sometime felt annoyed when they blame others for their failure.
That’s why it is understandble to see why Malays are very much dissapointed with the present leaders. They seems to give away to other’s demand too much, too soon, too easy. While other community leaders have become more vocal, the UMNO leaders have gone the opposite way!!!!
I hope you continue your writing here Jebat and I’m sure many will support you and appreciate your effort. I’m in the process to putting up a new blog and if you don’t mind I would like to re-publish some of your materials here in my blog. I hope to know more about you Jebat. 11. JMD,

May I make a deduction that you are a strong supporter of Dr Mahathir. Therefore I
would like you to read Stephen Doss ‘s latest posting regarding the Rapid KL and Monorail thing. Pse give a piece of your mind to this blogger.
Also read Matthias Chang’s positng on June 20 2008. If the said SD is true then it’s
doomsday for DPM. Could you comment a bit regarding the agreement (the legality of
it) among the coalition members in BN ?
    Thank you.

JMD : There is a reason on why I am perceived as a strong supporter of TDM. Firstly I would like to disclose here that I do not know him personally. Although I may know people who knows him personally, I on the other hand remain an unknown person to him. I seldom see him, the most would be the Hari Raya visits at Sri Perdana or maybe catch glimpses of him in lecture circuits.

I do not support some of his actions (the topmost of my mind would be, to easily listen to ideas of increasing the import duty of imported cars to 300%!). That was a mistake indeed. Although it helped the local car producer to sell cars, the ultimate goal of producing world class national cars were left rubbished by the greed of the Proton Management who gave most of the component producing vendors to unreliable and below par bumi contractors (their cronies).

In the end, we are left with very expensive good quality imported cars and also cheap but low quality national cars.

But however, among the several leaders we have in the past and present, none in my opinion have the intelligence, the political clout, nor the strength to lead the nation as good as TDM. In the absence of such leaders and in the face of so many contribution that TDM had made in his lifetime, by doing a cost benefit analysis, I was willing to absolve all the mistakes he could have ever made and, being the proper Malay that I am, I uphold the concept of ‘mengenang budi’. However, this doesn’t mean I would totally approve some of those past decisions. Still, I would imagine, Malaysia would not be as economically vibrant if say, Tun Hussein Onn stayed on as the PM till early 1990’s. We were one of the Asian economic tigers back then. The world recognized and respected us. Life was good. For that, I am grateful.

Before I digress more, Stephen Doss wrote an article regarding RapidKL. I respect his opinion on that. Stephen Doss is a strong supporter of Pak Lah. Which is no different from any other people who are known as Anwar’s followers, TDM’s sympathisers or Nik Aziz’s supporters. Even Lim Kit Siang has his fair share of loyalists. It is up to them to believe and write what they feel is right. A point of view can be subjective. What is important is facts and evidence to proof their point of view. But being passionate sometimes do not require any burden of proof. You just have faith in the person. That’s it.

But I would like to clarify on certain things here. Stephen Doss was a member of KeAdilan Party before he quit in 1999. Now he is a Gerakan party member. In his article, he ranted about ‘the pot calling the kettle black’ whereby TDM’s son in law (husband of Melinda) worked in MTrans therefore he should not criticise Pak Lah when SCOMI got the contract to supply buses and monorail for RapidKL. But the difference between those two was TDM’s son in law was just an employee. He was not even a director or shareholder of MTrans. Far different from Kamaluddin who is the owner/shareholder of SCOMI. We all remember the ‘My son never receive any projects from the government’ debacle? Please read http://www.chedet.com for further clarification.

In my view, there is nothing wrong if you want to enrich your family members. Honestly, I don’t feel that is wrong. But what is wrong is if you do it excessively which could deprive other people to share the economic pie and blatantly which riled up people’s sentiments. There is nothing wrong to help a family member. Believe me, the worst kind of hate would be hatred among family members.

As for the SD, I have not enough substantial amount of proof to believe or not to believe the either side. I read about this in http://barkingmagpie.blogspot.com/2008/06/najib-is-not-one-in-trouble-country-is.html which the SD appeared in http://bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com/2008/06/20/is-this-statutory-declaration-true/

Another angle of this incident could be read in http://antikhairy.wordpress.com/2008/06/21/konspirasi-menantu-pm-dan-raja-petra-untuk-jatuhkan-najib/

RPK has a court case hearing this October. In my opinion, he is just out to incite the public. He is afterall, is known to lay more importance to the court of ‘public opinion’ than to the real court of law. If the story is not true, then he can claim that he made a mistake. He won’t be cited for perjury since an SD is not done under oath. The penalty would be much lower than a sworn testimony and the courts are too saddled with backlog of court cases anyway. So we shall see what is the next move. Obviously he wanted Najib to make the mistake of filing a police report. It’s a lose lose situation for Najib and Rosmah. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Another arrest on RPK and refusal to post bail will surely make RPK a matyr. It’s a win win situation for RPK.

RPK who had always advocates in his writing that he doesn’t like to delve into politics is actually playing politics with the big boys afterall. And the stakes are higher.

    Thank you.

when can you come to your senses, does it really matter whether the majority must hold the power? you want money, work hard for it. you want power and respected, work for it. you want to show that you are superior, pls show that you can lead ….. stop talking about all this bullshit race and UMNO. i equally despise MCA and MIC. i feel like spitting on these 3 parties ….

if you concern about social justice, do you think UMNO has not done wrong with all these rampant corruptions, murder cases hanging here and there, money politics? can you tell me that UMNO as a whole aren’t guilty of leading the country to where it is now..?

equal opportunity, if you are good, you will be where you are …..stop talking about crutch and NEP …. you know well that NEP has indeed put more malays to such predicament. do you think we are happy to see malays to be in poverty? you just assume that the minority (you mean and bash the chinese) are out there hoping to see the downfall of malays and see how they suffer. can tell you JMD that u and your racists frens here are so shallow as to think that we just want to destroy malays. wake up, we so called the minority want the best for our country …read the sentence “our country” unless you do not share the same sentiment that is “our country” and it’s meant to be “malay’s country”.

it is bcos you people like you sowing hatred amongst your malay brethrens to hate the minorities and one day, when these young people grow up, they know nothing but only remember that the minorities are their enemies.

so , stop being a hypocrite tellling the whole world about history…….look in your heart. that speaks greater volume with all your hypocritical justifications on why malays should hold power.

JMD : Please read this whole blog before you want to accuse me about Umno, the NEP, etc. Your remarks concerning Melayu Racists does not mean anything here since everyone here knows racists are everywhere. We have come across many racists remarks ridiculing the Malays to the extreme. Therefore, please stop all this holier than thou attitude because even before you had learned about this blog, I had already written about the Malays and their negative attitude in life and also about the non Malays and their lack of tolerance. Since when I propagate the idea that the Malays need to hate the minorities? Are you stupid? I was ciriticising the racists bigots in Pakatan Rakyat leadership. For your further education, I implore you to read the following:

  16. hi jMD

i read a bit of your postings and compare it with deminegara (whatever kijang he is), you are by far a more level minded person compared to the wannabe deminegara. i wonder he is deminegara or demikaum/demiagama !!! you are willing to exchange notes but not the closed minded kijang. if you so happen to know kijang personally, just tell him this.

    thanks.

JMD : Thank you for reading this blog. However, sorry to say, I do not know Kijang Mas personally. I would advise you to tell him that personally. Surely if you persist, he will listen to your own side of story. Thank you.
