It is said that Umno in the 80’s and 90’s has only 3 really good speakers; Datuk Seri (Tun) Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tan Sri Sanusi Junid. This is because all 3 of them are avid readers and have a knack for capturing their audience with their own powerful way.
Each has different style when delivering their speech. Dr Mahathir gave speeches which were straight forward, concise and sometimes laced with sarcasms and innuendos which were very thought provoking. Anwar had a more text book approach. His speeches were often accompanied with eclectic words and audience were often mesmerized by it. Tan Sri Sanusi is different altogether. His speeches are informal and would almost always be complimented with witty anecdotes and quotes as well as other priceless stories from history and first hand experience.
All three have one thing in common; the ability to deliver effectively and effortlessly what they want to convey to the audience. Time would just be a fleeting moment when listening to either one of them, even if the speeches were delivered for hours on end. Getting goosebumps listening to them is not uncommon. The uncanny ability to talk non stop for hours without any script or text also proves that they have a well structured mind. But more importantly, all three could move the audience with their speech.
So here’s to Tan Sri Sanusi Junid. Completing the trio of what once were Umno’s best speakers in the blogosphere. If his articles in his blog are as witty as his speeches, then it’s going to be really awesome reading indeed.
Note that ironically, all three are not Umno members anymore.
